Jaipur

Rajastan is a new state for me to visit. It is the richest cultural statewith magnificent palaces, forts, colourful festivals and bazaars. Its western desert borders Pakistan. The people are made up of a group of warrior clans, the Rajputs. Camel rides and desert exploration, if you want.

Jaipur is the capital, with a population of 3 million. It's streets are jammed with bikes, cars, scooters, carts and rickshaws, cows and camel carts. The sounds of hooters, shouts and loudspeaker music are all around. The main bazaar, which is great to wander around, is winding, it sells everything a household may require.

Buildings are painted with a pink wash, a colour associated with hospitality. The main tourist attractions are within this area, which four major gates
